Additional Details
A Rare Copper Nickel Halfcrown Mule of 1961, showing the normal 1961 obverse harp side, but having a reverse horse side from the die used for the silver halfcrown coinage issued 1928 - 1937.

This significant variety was not discovered until well after the coins were released, about half way through the 1961 general circulation coin release.  Hence, very few 1961 Mules were put aside as true uncirculated coins.  For a long time, true uncirculated specimens, such as this one, were unknown.  This coin is not just uncirculated.  It is Very Nice Choice Uncirculated, and, as such, among the Finest Known.

The present coin exhibits original brilliant surfaces that have not been enhanced or altered, and exhibit a natural very light tone, which has not been wiped.   This coin is a candidate for one of the best of 4 or 5 known true uncirculated 1961 mules.  A Very Rare Irish Halfcrown in this grade.

Graded and encapsulated in an NGC MS63 holder.  $3500.
