Ireland under Charles II, 1645-1685.  Armstrong and Legge's Regal Coinage of 1680-1684.  A 1683 Halfpenny of 15 Strings, S.6575, KM.91, 7.85 g., 26 mm., medal orientation, edge grained mostly vertically a bit crudely.   Laureate and draped bust rt. of Charles II, small lettered legend around CAROLVS.II   DEI:GRATIA, the pellet on the bottom line the legend, the colon being a new punctuation introduced during1683, for the halfpennies of Charles II.  Rev. crowned harp of 15 strings divides date 16  82, small to medium lettered legend around  MAG.BR.FRA.ET.HIB.REX, with pellets close to bottom level.  16 clears all devices equally and above X.  83 clears all devices equally, w top of 83 to beginning of M.  3 is very large.  Point of bot of harp to second stand of A, and clear. 

Very Fine.  A heavy die break on the obv from the tops of the E and I downward to the rim.   w quite a bit of detail to the portrait.   Good brown copper surfaces.  $250.
